I am spent on listening to and trying to talk reason with my students regarding the upcoming dance this weekend. I, quite literally, can take no more. So on to cheerier subjects.
The world is a cruel place, and relishes in frequently reminding people of this dark reality. On to even cheerier subjects.
Ebola is still ravaging the world, but since it is no longer a sensational item in the news, people have ceased caring. On to (is it possible?) cheerier subjects.
I read an article today that focused on rape in University settings, specifically frat houses. Fact: rapes at colleges are three times more likely to be committed by a guy in a fraternity, than a non-fraternity guy. The most difficult part of this article was the aparent blasse attitude universities, fraternities, and even regular students have towards the issue of rape of college students. On to a painful subject.

On to an actually cheery subject. For Thanksgiving, I will be in Florida with my family. I like eastern Montana, but it will be nice to get away for a while. One component I enjoy about family events is talking with my brothers. Not always, but since for the last few years, my brothers and I have moved farther away from each other, and have become closer. Whenever we get together now, we will end up talking to each other about just about anything. Subjects tend to focus around relationships, family, future plans, health and fitness.
I talked with my older brother today about these talks we have together, and he ranked the top three talk locations of his.
1) Hot tub at the river club
2) Early morning with coffee on the lanai
3) Sitting around the campfire at the cabin
Our conversations have taken place anywhere from in the middle of a tough mudder, while covered in mud and dehydrated, to sitting in church on Christmas eve, snit-bitting conversation inbetween songs, which we then follow Grant's lead and sing of holiday-infused hearts out.
So that is what I'll focus on for the next six days, at which point I'll be in Florida with my family, eating unnecessary amounts of turkey, and possibly breaking my sugar fast.
