Thank goodness the Superbowl is over. I am tired of sports. In fact, I am much more interested in intellectual pursuits. I have several goals in mind and I am pursuing them with much of the energy and attention they deserve. Intellectual pursuit one) read more for myself. I have been outrageously busy with speech and drama. It definitely qualifies as one of those things that no one appreciates the amount of work that goes into it, until you've actually done it first hand. Speech and Drama is done, sadly of course, but its conclusion has opened up time for other pursuits.
Insert Michael Pollan. Michael Pollan is a great writer on health, diet, and theory. Three of my favorite things. My health has regressed lately for two reasons. 1) Speech and Drama. Sitting for hours on end for days on end, combine with eating fast food, and decreasing yoga, strength exercises and cardio, tends to slacken health markers. 2) I have been trying to gain weight for the fitness competition my brothers and I are having. Counter-intuitive, I know, but before I can perform well in this competition, I need a stronger base to cut down.
Reading about health, diet, and theory has helped me refocus throughout the week on maintaining healthy habits. For instance, last night, I sautee'd an entire head of kale in butter. It. Was. Delicious. And Healthy. Tonight, after school, I am going to go home, eat something healthy, then go hike in Mikoshika. Time to get outside!
